Cancer Research
Donations:
Progress is being made in the fight against childhood cancers,
thanks to cancer research donations. New methods of treatment with
fewer side effects continue to enter the world of chemotherapy regimens.
Laboratories dedicated to cancer research across the nation are
working diligently to isolate causes and find cures for the many
different types of cancers in children.
Fighting cancer is an on-going process. The urgency to find cures
to save lives is a driving force to plunge forward in every aspect
of clinical research. Cancer research donations support the efforts
of pharmacologists, geneticists, oncologists, and biologists dedicated
to the study of cancer. This involves every phase from how the cancer
develops, to how it progresses and responds to treatment.
Cancer in children is different from the many cancers faced by
adults. Many of the adult cancers are a result of carcinogens from
the environment or one's lifestyle, such as smoking and poor dietary
habits. Tumors in children, on the other hand, can develop even
during the fetal stage. Cancer research donations are used partly
for the study of genetics in order to determine what causes these
cancers to develop.
